Scope of this policy
This policy applies to personal information handled through Global Talent Network, its website, member features, support communications and related business administration. It explains what we collect, why we use it, who may receive it and the rights available under UK data protection law.
Relevant law includes the UK GDPR, the Data Protection Act 2018 as amended, including changes made by the Data (Use and Access) Act 2025, and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations where applicable.
It should be read with our Cookie Policy and Terms of Service.
Personal information we collect
Depending on how a person uses GTN, we may collect and use:
- Account information, name and contact information.
- Candidate profile information, employment history and professional history.
- CVs and other documents voluntarily supplied.
- Job preferences, saved searches and platform activity.
- Communications with GTN and customer support requests.
- Membership and billing records, including Stripe customer and subscription references where stored, payment status and invoice related records.
- Marketing preferences and records of consent or opt out choices.
- Security and authentication information, IP addresses and technical logs where collected.
- Cookie and similar technology information described in our Cookie Policy.
Payment card information
GTN does not store full payment card details. Payment card information is handled by Stripe where Stripe Checkout is used.
Special category information
GTN does not require users to place unnecessary special category personal information in profiles, CVs or free text fields. Please do not provide sensitive information unless it is necessary and appropriate for the feature you choose to use.
Where Welshdale Ltd intentionally processes special category information, it will identify an applicable condition under data protection law and provide any additional notice or consent process required.
How we use personal information and lawful bases
Contract
We use personal information to create and manage accounts, provide member services, operate saved functions, administer membership and provide platform features that a user requests.
Legal obligation
We use information where necessary for accounting, tax, legal and regulatory obligations.
Legitimate interests
We use proportionate information for security, fraud prevention, service administration, debugging, preventing misuse, protecting legal rights, improving the platform and handling business operations. We consider whether a person’s rights override those interests.
Consent
We rely on consent for optional direct marketing where consent is required, and for nonessential cookies or similar technologies where consent is required. Consent is not the basis for ordinary performance of our contract with a user.
The applicable lawful basis depends on the purpose and circumstances. We will provide further information if a new use of personal information requires it.
Sponsor and employer information
Candidate profiles are private by default and are not automatically disclosed to employers. GTN does not sell candidate profiles. Information is shared or made public only according to the candidate’s actions, permissions and the product functions the candidate chooses to use.
Publicly published profile information may be viewed by internet users if the candidate deliberately publishes it. A candidate decides when information is submitted, approved or published.
Who we share information with
Where necessary for the relevant purpose, information may be shared with:
- Stripe for payment processing and subscription administration.
- Hosting and infrastructure providers.
- Email and communications providers.
- Security and technical service providers.
- Analytics providers only where analytics are actually enabled and used lawfully.
- Professional advisers, auditors and insurers where relevant.
- Regulators, courts and law enforcement where legally required.
- Other service providers acting on Welshdale Ltd’s instructions.
We do not sell personal information
Welshdale Ltd does not sell personal information or candidate profiles.
International transfers
Some service providers may process information outside the UK. Where UK data protection law requires safeguards, Welshdale Ltd will use an applicable lawful transfer mechanism or rely on an applicable adequacy regulation. The appropriate measure depends on the provider, destination and processing involved.
Retention
- Account and profile data is kept while required to operate the account and for a reasonable period afterwards where needed for legal, security, dispute and administrative purposes.
- Billing, invoice and accounting records are retained for periods required by UK tax and accounting law.
- Technical and security records are retained only for periods proportionate to security, fraud prevention, troubleshooting and legal requirements.
- Marketing preference records are retained while relevant. Minimal suppression information may be retained after opt out so the opt out can be respected.
Information is deleted or anonymised when it is no longer reasonably required, subject to backups and legal retention obligations.
Security
Welshdale Ltd uses appropriate technical and organisational measures designed to protect personal information against unauthorised access, loss, alteration and disclosure. Measures are reviewed in light of the nature of the information and the risks involved. No online service can promise absolute security.
Individual rights
Depending on the circumstances and the lawful basis used, a person may have rights to:
- Request access to personal information.
- Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete information.
- Request erasure of personal information.
- Request restriction of processing.
- Receive certain information in a portable format.
- Object to certain processing.
- Withdraw consent at any time where processing relies on consent.
- Complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office.
Your right to object
You have the right to object to processing based on legitimate interests. You also have the right to object at any time to the use of your personal information for direct marketing. We will consider and respond to an objection in line with applicable law.
To exercise a right, email support@gtnetwork.co.uk. We may need enough information to confirm identity and understand the request.
Direct marketing
Optional marketing choices are separate from service communications. People can unsubscribe at any time using the option in a marketing message or by contacting us. Transactional and account messages may still be sent where necessary to provide the service. Welshdale Ltd respects the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations.
Cookies and similar technologies
Our Cookie Policy explains the browser storage and similar technologies currently used by GTN, their purposes and the choices available.
Automated decision making
GTN does not currently make solely automated decisions about a person that produce legal effects or similarly significant effects. Ordinary sorting, search and recommendations are not treated as official immigration eligibility decisions.
Children
GTN is intended for adults seeking professional and employment related information. It is not designed for children under 18.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when our services, practices or legal obligations change. We will publish the updated policy and its date. Where a change is material, we will provide additional notice where appropriate.
