What these technologies are
Cookies are small text records that a website can place in a browser. Local storage is a related browser feature that allows information to remain on a device. These technologies can support sign in, security, preferences and optional measurement.
Technology GTN currently uses
Candidate authentication
GTN uses local browser storage to keep the authentication token needed to recognise a signed in candidate. It remains until sign out, replacement, browser data removal, or expiry makes it unusable.
Administration authentication
The restricted administration area uses separate local browser storage for its authentication token. This is necessary to recognise an authorised signed in user.
Guidance reading progress
GTN uses local browser storage to remember which member guidance articles have been opened on that device. This supports read indicators and a progress display requested through the guidance feature. It remains until the browser data is cleared.
The inspected application source does not currently use session storage. Browser storage may be unavailable where a browser blocks it, in which case affected account or progress features may not work as expected.
Analytics and marketing technologies
No nonessential tracker detected
The inspected GTN application source does not currently load analytics services, advertising pixels or marketing tags on GTN pages. It does not include Plausible, Google Analytics or Meta Pixel code.
Because no nonessential tracking technology was found, GTN does not currently present a consent banner. If optional analytics or marketing technology is introduced, it will not be used before consent where UK law requires consent, and users will be given a way to change their choices.
Stripe hosted payment pages
GTN sends a customer to a Stripe hosted page when Stripe Checkout is used. The inspected GTN application source does not load a Stripe tracking script on GTN pages. Stripe may use cookies or similar technologies in its own hosted payment environment for payment, security and fraud prevention. Stripe controls those technologies and provides its own privacy and cookie information.
Your browser choices
Browser controls can remove local storage and cookies. Removing authentication storage will sign a user out or prevent GTN from recognising the signed in session. Removing guidance progress will reset the read indicators on that device.
Strictly necessary technology may be required for a requested account function. Any future nonessential technology will be subject to consent where the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations require it.

We may update this policy when website technology changes. We will update the date shown on this page and provide additional notice where appropriate.
